John William Davey (jun) was born in Lackford on 24th June 1890 (Thingoe Q1-1889 4A:704) son of John William and Anna DAVEY (née BUCKLE).
1891 census...Aged 9 months, he was at Brook Farm Cottage, Lackford with his father John DAVEY [31],traction engine driver, born Bardwell; his mother Anna[33] born Barningham; brother Harold J [2] born Stanton and cousin Abigail STIFF [10] born Hundon. On 22nd May 1895 he started at Elveden Voluntary Aided Primary School. 1901 census...Aged 10, he was at Brandon Road, Elveden with his parents and brothers Harold, William [8] born Lackford and Bertie [5] born Elveden. 1911 census...Aged 20, plumber's assistant, he was at 87 Brandon Road, Elveden with his parents, brother Harold (engine driver's labourer), and Bertie, keeper's yard boy. In 1914, in Wandsworth, he married Emily L.F.BATT [10-9-1892], later of The Chase, Woodhouse Eaves, Loughborough. His elder brother Harold Edmond was killed at Ypres in 1915. see here |

He enlisted in Bury St Edmunds in the Suffolk Regiment. He died in the military hospital in Colchester, having been transferred to the Labour Corps.
His death was due to influenza and pneumonia.
